Last week, 164 people were killed and more than a thousand injured in riots in Kazakhstan against President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev. President Tokayev accused foreign terrorists of a well-planned conspiracy to create anarchy and overthrow his government in Kazakhstan. The violence was then brought under control by Kazakh President Tokayev, with the help of the military from the Collective Security Treaty Organization-CSTO of the former Soviet member states.

Normalcy is returning to Kazakhstan now after a week of violence. The Kazakh government also revealed the names of those responsible for the violence and their foreign accomplices assisting them. Kazakhstan‘s criminal world leader Arman Dike was arrested last week on the 7th of January in this connection. His interrogation revealed Arman’s closeness to current Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.

Arman and Cavusoglu’s photograph was published in the Gulf media. In Turkey, Arman also confessed to collaborating with Mafia dons Sedat Peker and Allatin Kakichi. It has already been exposed that Peker was linked with drug trafficking, money laundering, prostitution and arms smuggling along with Turkish leaders. Therefore, Turkey is claimed to be a significant factor behind the violence in Kazakhstan.

Kazakh security forces have blamed extremist groups in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Turkey for such violence. The ‘Eurasian’ agency also has indicated the involvement of Turkish extremists in the violence in Kazakhstan. A thorough investigation into the incident is underway and more details are expected to come soon.

A few days ago, the President of Kazakhstan, Tokayev, while speaking at a meeting of the CSTO, also accused the Central Asian, Gulf and Afghan links of the anarchy in the country. President Tokayev has announced that he will soon reveal the evidence to the world. Russian President Vladimir Putin has also declared that he will not allow attempts to overthrow governments in Kazakhstan and the other former member countries of the Soviet Union to succeed.

Turkey had cooperation with former Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Nursultan stepped up the movement to create an influential group of Turkish-speaking countries. Russia was outraged by the inclusion of former member countries of the Soviet Union. But President Tokayev, who came to power in Kazakhstan after Nursultan, gave more importance to relations with Russia than Turkey.

Meanwhile, President Tokayev last week arrested Masimov, former head of the anti-terrorism squad, on charges of treason for his involvement in the violence in the country. Former President Nursultan has been removed from the post of head of the National Security Council. In such a scenario, Arman’s confession comes as a major shock to Turkey, likely to strain Turkey’s relations with Kazakhstan and Russia.
