Texas governor takes stern action against Immigrants, defies orders of US

Texas: – The US-Mexico border is in the state of Texas. Greg Abbott the Governor of Texas has defied the orders of President Joe Biden and issued orders to take direct action against the immigrants. The Governor has given powers to the Texas National guards and security agencies. Vice President Kamala Harris has criticised the actions of Governor Abbott and has accused him of trying to ignite a fire. However, Abbott has indicated to remain firm on his decisions. This could lead to a political conflict in the United States.

Illegal immigrant influx into the United States has increased since Joe Biden became the President. It has been known that Biden allowed millions of illegal immigrants free in the United States. The liberal and relaxed immigration policy of President Biden has caused an emergency in the states of Texas and Florida on the US-Mexico border. Biden did not initiate any steps despite consistent opposition against this. Instead, he has stressed on scrapping provisions like Title 42 which stops the illegal immigrant influx.

There is tremendous resentment in the states of Texas and Florida which are under Republican rule. Abbott, the Governor of Texas has launched a new campaign called Operation Lone Star against the immigrants. A provision of USD 3 billion has been announced to stop the illegal immigrant influx. The funds will be used for deployment of the National Guard and building the Border Wall. Governor Abbott has also indicated to build a 100 miles long wall on the border. In the month of May, he mentioned the need to use the war powers.

Last week, Abbott seems to have used special war powers to issue orders for deployment of National Guard and other security agencies. Sources informed that more than 10,000 soldiers have been deployed as per the orders of Governor Abbott. The deployed units have been assigned the task of sending the illegal immigrants back to Mexico. Photographs of the action initiated in Texas are also being posted on social media as well as in traditional media.

The Biden administration is preparing to challenge the action of Governor Abbott in the US court. Voluntary organisations have criticised Governor Abbott and have threatened to take legal action.
