Afghan terrorists sparked riots in Kazakhstan, accuses Kazakh President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev

Nur-Sultan/Washington: – Kazakh President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev accused that terrorists in Afghanistan were involved in the riots which flared up in Kazakhstan in the last week. There was a conspiracy to create controlled anarchy in Kazakhstan, use it, and assume power. Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov made a significant claim that there is a common principle between the US withdrawal from Afghanistan and the riots in Kazakhstan.

The situation in Kazakhstan is coming under control after last week’s riots. The government of Kazakhstan has claimed that internet service has been relaunched here and public life will return to normal soon. As many as 9,900 people have been arrested due to the riots, which killed at least 164 people. Kazakhstan’s President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev has announced a new government, with Alikhan Smailov as Prime Minister.  

Charles Mitchell, President of the Council of the European Union for Trade Cooperation with Kazakhstan, held a virtual discussion with President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev. During the discussion, the President of Kazakhstan accused trained terrorists of being behind the planned riots last week. President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev has blamed terrorists from Afghanistan and in the Middle East and Central Asia, targeting the people of Kazakhstan.  

For this, Kazakhstan had to launch an anti-terrorism campaign, said President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev. The operation is nearing completion and troops from Russia and the former Soviet allies will withdraw in the next two days, the Kazakh president said. Russia also said that its troops deployed in Kazakhstan under the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) would soon return home.  

Russian Ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, claimed that the US withdrawal from Afghanistan was linked to the Kazakh riots. Ambassador Anatoly Antonov accused ‘Last week, thousands of terrorists and robbers tried to shake the constitutional system of Kazakhstan. These terrorists caused huge damage to public and private property. The flight of the United States from Afghanistan and the subsequent rise of extremism in the region is responsible for what is happening in Kazakhstan.’  

Opposition leaders in the United States have warned that the Biden administration’s ‘irresponsible withdrawal’ could lead to a resurgence of terrorism in Afghanistan. Opposition leaders have warned the Biden administration that this could also endanger the security of the United States and Afghanistan’s neighbours.
