Islamabad – Pakistan, which is excited due to the invitation of the Winter Olympics in China, had claimed that bilateral talks would be held with Russia in Beijing. Besides, confidence was expressed in Pakistan that the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan will be historic. But Russia has announced that although President Putin will be attending the Winter Olympics, he will not be holding bilateral talks with any country. It has greatly disheartened Pakistan.
The India-US strategic cooperation is only increasing. At the same time, India has maintained its friendly ties with Russia. Pakistani journalists and media criticise Pakistan should take a lesson from this Indian foreign diplomacy. At the same time, the journalists and media are pointing out that US President Joe Biden did not even bother to call Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan after taking over as the US President. The Imran Khan government is frantically trying to improve its relations with Russia to avoid this criticism.
The Pakistan government tried to get Russian President Vladimir Putin to visit Pakistan. But the Russian President has not paid any heed to the Pakistan demand. In this scenario, confidence was being expressed that Prime Minister Imran Khan would hold talks with the Russian President during the winter Olympics in Beijing. But Dmitry Peskov, spokesman of the Russian Kremlin, has jolted Pakistan, saying that no bilateral talks are scheduled for President Putin during his Beijing visit. Therefore, the Pakistan government trying to indicate that Russia is coming on its side has been disillusioned.
Moreover, Turkey seems to have delivered a significant jolt to Pakistan before Russia. Claims were being made in Pakistan that Turkish President Recep Erdogan is a Pakistan supporter and both the countries together can lead the Islamic world. Pakistan jeopardised its relations with Saudi and United Arab Emirates to cooperate with Turkey. Intense reactions had been received from these countries. But now, the Turkish President has taken the initiative to cooperate with Israel and he will soon be visiting Israel. It is a significant jolt for Pakistan, dreaming of forming and leading independent Islamic countries and Turkey.
The critics of Imran Khan have started saying that hurting its traditional allies for cooperation with Turkey only demonstrates the immature foreign policy of the Imran Khan government. The journalists who once favoured Imran Khan also have started saying that the accusation that Imran Khan does not understand the A, B, C of foreign policy is now being proved. At the same time, reports are being received that Turkey is preparing to supply super-advanced drones to India. This has fuelled the anger of the Pakistani journalists and media further. Therefore, the atmosphere is heating up in Pakistan against Imran Khan.
