Berlin: In 2015, a wave of refugees hit Europe when IS terrorists were carrying out massacres in Iraq and Syria. But the crisis of seven years ago will also be dwarfed by the influx of refugees soon hitting Germany. The number of refugees in Germany will reach 1.2 million by the end of this year; Welt am Sonntag, a local newspaper, claimed. A member of the German parliament has warned that Germany is turning a blind eye to the crisis by not taking a firm stance on the issue of refugees.

Number of refugees in Germany to reach 1.2 million in 2022 - local newspaper claimsIn 2015, 890,000 refugees arrived in Germany. After that, the number of refugees entering Germany decreased for the last six years. This included many refugees arriving from Syria, Afghanistan, Turkey and Iraq. But due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, it is claimed that a large number of refugees are moving towards European countries.

A German newspaper reported that most of these Ukrainian refugees would enter Germany. The policy adopted by the German government towards refugees is said to be responsible for this. But German parliamentarian Manfred Weber has blamed the government for the influx of refugees. Weber warned that the German government should not ignore the challenges that come with the influx of Ukrainian refugees.

Places set up for refugees are overcrowded. Germany is already facing a fuel crisis because of the Ukraine conflict. In such a situation, Germany may have to face great challenges if a horde of Ukrainian refugees hits Germany. Gymnasiums may have to accommodate these refugees, and schools and business programs may have to be curtailed to deal with the fuel crisis. But Weber expressed concern that Germany was not ready for such a crisis.
