New Delhi – Prime Minister Modi and Saudi’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had a phone conversation. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia for the cooperation extended by Saudi Arabia to safely evacuate the Indian nationals trapped in Sudan’s civil war. The Crown Prince of Saudi said they would render their full support to India, which is taking over the presidency of the G20 during this period. Besides, he also clarified that they will participate in the G20 meeting in September.
Moreover, considerable political turmoil has occurred in the Gulf region in the past few weeks. Saudi Arabia and Iran have re-established political cooperation by starting talks. Thus, US’s influence on the Gulf region has been decreasing, and China-Russia has been seen preparing to take advantage. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited Saudi Arabia in such a situation. Meanwhile, Putin and Saudi Crown Prince had a phone conversation.
Subsequently, the news of PM Modi’s telephone conversation with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman surfaced, which was shared by Prime Minister’s Office. At the same time, the Prime Minister also announced the discussion of the two countries’ connectivity, energy, defence, trade and investment with the Crown Prince of Saudi by giving this information through social media. Simultaneously, PM Modi also discussed regional and international issues with bin Salman, he informed.
In April, Saudi significantly contributed to safely evacuating the Indian citizens trapped in the fierce conflict between the army and the Paramilitary Forces of Sudan. More than 3,500 Indian nationals were brought back home due to ‘Operation Kaveri’ to secure the release of Indian nationals. Mentioning Saudi’s cooperation for this, the Prime Minister thanked Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Even after two months, Prime Minister’s gratitude towards Saudi’s cooperation leads to attention.
