Prime Minister Modi arrives in Italy for G20 summit 

Rome: Prime Minister Modi was warmly welcomed when he arrived in Rome for the G20 summit held in ItalyDiscussion are likely to happen about the energy crisis, which disrupted the supply chain, the revival of economies post Covid19 and the emerging threat of Corona. Hence Prime Minister Modi’s presence at the summit is extremely important.

Prime Minister Modi had a productive interaction with President of the European Council Charles Michel and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. Current India– European Union relations are good and bilateral trade agreements have been discussed. European Union is eager to extend co-operation to India in the Indo-Pacific region, as highlighted by Ursula von der Leyen. She also emphasised the need to complete the vaccination program globally to continue the fight against Covid.    

European Council Charles Michel confirmed discussing with Prime Minister Modi on various topics like green transition, sustainable development, global health, fight against the pandemic, Afghanistan, and Indo- Pacific region. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Arindam Bagchi, informed about comprehensive discussions on trade, international and regional affairs, and bilateral trade agreements.   

Prime Minister Modi paid tribute to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Rome and expressed that Gandhi’s ideology and views to be inspiring and relevant even today. Prime Minister Modi may meet to meet Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett. Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla has confirmed that Prime Minister Modi will meet Pope Francis in the Vatican.
