Pakistan wants perpetual peace with India – Pakistan PM proposes

Islamabad: By saying that Pakistan and India cannot afford another war, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif claimed it is vital to resolve the Kashmir issue through negotiations. The Pakistani Prime Minister made this peace proposal to India while speaking to students at Howard University and discussing it with the newly appointed Australian ambassador to Pakistan. Analysts in Pakistan have criticised that our country’s vulnerability is coming before the world through his proposal.

Pakistan wants perpetual peace with India - Pakistan PM proposesThe Shanghai Cooperation Organization-SCO meeting will be held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, in September. Taking this opportunity, Pakistan is attempting to start talks with India at the diplomatic level. Statements of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif are a part of the same effort. Pakistan had suggested talks to India to resolve the Kashmir issue to avoid wars. But while Pakistan does not want war in the current situation, it has often been made clear that it does not want peace with India.

Pakistan is still trying to do as much damage as possible to India without resorting to direct war. At present, Pakistan-sponsored terrorists are trying to carry out attacks across the country, including Mumbai and such threats are being made openly. Pakistan’s notorious intelligence agency ISI still kills innocent civilians in Jammu and Kashmir with saboteur activities. In this background, it is unlikely that India will take this proposal given by the Prime Minister of Pakistan seriously. Still, there is a strong possibility that this proposal given by the Prime Minister of Pakistan may be due to the concerns felt by this country.

India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval visited Russia and held talks with Russian Security Advisor Nikolai Patrushev. This included the war in Ukraine and Afghanistan, among other issues. India’s influence in Afghanistan has grown after the Taliban regime was established. Distancing from Pakistan, the Taliban has shown readiness to establish good relations with India. The Taliban is demanding to reopen the Indian embassy in Afghanistan and restart stalled Indian development projects in the country. Russia also supports India’s Afghanistan campaign, which may increase Pakistan’s problems in the future.

Realising this, Pakistan has become more apprehensive. After the Taliban came to power, Pakistan had planned a terrible conspiracy to use Afghanistan against India to create terrible bloodshed in Kashmir. These tactics have now backfired on Pakistan itself. Establishing peace with India has become a need for Pakistan in such a situation. Also, Pakistan’s economy has sunk into the mud. Pakistan is also clearly aware that economic stability will not be established in our country without establishing cooperation with India. The Pakistani public, optimistic about India’s economic boom and growing international influence, is asking why their country has remained so backward. A few days ago, Leader of Opposition Imran Khan also asked the same question and praised the Indian foreign policy.

Against this background, the eagerness shown by the Prime Minister of Pakistan for talks with India is natural. But just a few days ago, there were reports that failed unannounced diplomatic talks between India and Pakistan. Pakistan’s newspaper reported that. The newspaper said the talks failed as both countries were not ready to compromise on the Kashmir issue. In such a situation, there is no possibility that another attempt at talks between the two countries will be successful.

India’s main demand is that if there is a need for talks with India, Pakistan should first leave the path of terrorism. Also, India is not at all ready to accept Pakistan’s insistence that the Kashmir issue should be resolved in its favour. Despite constant threats of war or nuclear war, India is not ready to discuss the issue of Kashmir. On the contrary, Indian leaders are now talking about gaining control over Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

The people of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir and some of its leaders have openly criticised their territory’s remaining backwards because of Pakistan. For this, Pakistan may feel the need to discuss it with India. But India will not allow peace or war as per Pakistan’s wish. A few months ago, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval suggested that it would be up to India to decide what to do and how to do it. There are clear indications that this is the Indian stance towards Pakistan.
