Pakistan willing to open pathway for Indian aid to Afghanistan

New Delhi – Pakistan, which was creating obstacles and being evasive in allowing 50,000 tonnes of Indian wheat to pass through the country, has expressed willingness to allow the passage. Thus, this would enable Indian wheat to reach Afghanis through the Attari Wagah border. It is claimed that both the countries have agreed on this matter. Meanwhile, when Pakistan stopped this aid, India supplied medical aid three times to the Afghan population through air routes. India had also completed preparations to supply the wheat through the Chabahar port in Iran.

Pakistan, Afghanistan, Indian aid,The Taliban regime has still not received recognition from the international community. Therefore, it is becoming difficult for all the countries to reach aid to Afghanistan. The United Nations has warned that Afghans are suffering from starvation and thousands of Afghans could die during the harsh winter. Pakistan also appealed to the international community to aid the Afghan people. But on the other hand, it took the initiative to obstruct the supply of 50,000 tonnes of wheat offered by India.

Pakistan had adopted a policy to block Indian aid to Afghanistan by not providing passage through the country. Pakistan feared that if the Indian aid reached Afghanistan, the Indian influence would increase further in Afghanistan. But Pakistan was forced to accept the Indian proposal buckling before the Taliban pressure. Still, Pakistan laid out certain conditions in front of India. But Iran expressed willingness to allow passage of the Indian wheat through the Chabahar port to Afghanistan. Pakistan seems to have been compelled to accept the Indian proposal after that. Some of the journalists from Pakistan criticised the policies of their government. These journalists pointed out that Pakistan, which is appealing for aid to Afghanistan to the international community, contradicts itself by obstructing India’s assistance.

Against this background, two days ago, Pakistan announced that it was waiting for a proposal from India in this respect.
