Coronavirus cases in the country cross 300,000: Maharashtra crosses 100,000  

New Delhi/Mumbai: – Concerns have increased as Coronavirus claimed 400 lives and there was an addition of 11,000 new cases in the country, in the last 24 hours. Till Friday morning, the number of Coronavirus deaths had reached 8,500 and the total number of cases had reached 297,000. Whereas, it was clear that the number of Coronavirus cases in the country had crossed 306,000, by Friday night. The situation has festered in Maharashtra and Delhi and the number of cases in Maharashtra have crossed 100,000. The Supreme Court has taken cognisance of the deteriorating situation in New Delhi. The Supreme Court also questioned the government as to why the number of tests was reduced.

On Friday, 127 Coronavirus deaths and 3,493 new cases were reported from Maharashtra. 90 in Mumbai, 11 in Thane and 3 in Kalyan-Dombivali died of Coronavirus on Friday. The number of Coronavirus deaths in Maharashtra has reached 3,717 and the total number of cases has reached 101,141. 35% of the total Coronavirus cases have been reported from Maharashtra and 55% of these were reported from Mumbai. Since the last week, 6 deaths of Coronavirus patients are being reported, every hour, in Maharashtra. This rate is three deaths per hour in Mumbai.  

Although, Tamil Nadu comes second in the total number of cases, the increase is seen to be more rapid in Delhi. More importantly, the Delhi government has reduced the number of tests per day. The number of tests has been brought down from 7,000 to 4,000. Still, there are more than 1,500 new Coronavirus cases reported from Delhi every day. The Supreme Court also lashed out at the Delhi government on the issue of disdainful treatment to the corpses of Coronavirus victims. The number of Coronavirus cases in Delhi has reached 35,000.  

The number of Coronavirus cases in Tamil Nadu has crossed 40,000. 18 deaths were reported from Tamil Nadu on Friday and 1,477 new cases were added. The number of Coronavirus deaths in Gujarat has reached 1,416 and the number of cases has reached 22,562.
