This is the second time in the last 15 days that the US President has predicted the possibility of nuclear war on the Russia-Ukraine issue.

Last month, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that warnings of nuclear war were not empty. ‘I want to remind you that our country also has various means of destruction … and when the territorial integrity of our country is threatened, to protect Russia and our people, we will certainly use all the means at our disposal. It’s not a bluff,’ Russian President Putin had made the West aware of the reality in these words.

Putin’s statement had drawn strong reactions from the West. The British Minister had said that Russia’s threat must be taken seriously. Besides, claims were made by the media that the US had sent a message to Russia and warned them. Moreover, senior US officials had even openly warned Russia against facing the consequences. US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken mentioned this in an interview with a news channel. ‘It’s very important that Moscow hear from us and know from us that the consequences would be horrific, and we’ve made that very clear,’ Blinken had sternly warned. Furthermore, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan had warned that the US would respond decisively to Russia’s nuclear attacks.

Russian President Vladimir Putin had hinted that Russia might use nuclear weapons in the early days after launching its campaign in Ukraine. Putin had also ordered Russia’s nuclear forces to be on alert. After that, Russia showed its preparedness by conducting a new nuclear weapon ‘Sarmat’ test. Six months later, President Putin once again threatened a nuclear attack, causing upheaval, and the issue of nuclear war has come to the fore.
