The drug was seized in action after the DRI received information. It was being said that this container in the Nhava-Sheva port contained Jeshthamadh (liquorice). Besides, the Heroin stock was tactfully concealed in a pipe. This is considered to be a huge action of drug seizure among the ones taken in the recent past. Last year, on 19 July, 130 kgs of drugs were seized from Nhava-Sheva.

Moreover, the DRI has expressed the possibility of a smuggler gang being involved in the matter. The drug was imported via some company. Besides, the company’s link with this gang will also be investigated. Also, the two persons involved with the signing of documents regarding this import have been arrested, informed the officers.

Furthermore, it is also being invested whether these smugglers are connected to terror funding. It has been exposed several times in the past that the money from drug-smuggling is used to aid the terror-outfits.
