Over 15,000 blood units collected at Mega Blood Donation Camp conducted by ‘Aniruddha’s Academy of Disaster Management’ & allied organisations

Blood Donation CampMumbai: The blood donation camp organised by ‘Aniruddha’s Academy of Disaster Management’ and affiliated organisations received a huge response on Sunday. This blood donation camp was organised at 87 places simultaneously in various districts of Maharashtra, including Mumbai and the states of Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh. A total of more than 15 thousand units of blood were collected from these camps. More than eight thousand people donated blood at the camp in Mumbai.

Moreover, this organisation has been conducting blood donation camps in summer for over two decades. During the year, blood donation camps are also organised in other places across the state through these organisations. These organisations collected a record amount of blood from the Mega Blood Donation Camp organised this Sunday.

Every year, there is a shortage of lakhs of units of blood in the country. Many surgeries are halted due to blood shortage. Patients suffering from chronic diseases require blood regularly. Some have to lose their lives due to a dearth of timely blood supply. A few days ago, the ‘State Blood Transfusion Council’ said there is a huge blood shortage in Maharashtra this year. The State Blood Transfusion Council informed that there is enough blood left in the state to last only 11 days.

Blood Donation CampConsidering this, ‘Aniruddha’s Academy of Disaster Management’, ‘Shree Aniruddha Aadesh Pathak’, ‘Dilasa Medical Trust and Rehabilitation Centre’, ‘Aniruddha Samarpan Pathak’, ‘Shree Aniruddha Upasana Foundation’, ‘Aniruddha’s House of Friends’ organised a blood donation camp. On Sunday, April 23, a blood donation camp was organised at New English School in Bandra, Mumbai, ten places each in Kolhapur and Satara districts, nine places in Raigad district, eight in Sangli, five places each in Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri. Besides, the camp was also conducted at four places in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district, three places in Pune district, Ahmednagar, and two places each in Palghar district. Furthermore, a camp was organised at one place each in Dhule, Jalgaon, Nagpur, Nashik, and Dharashiv. This Mega Blood Donation Camp was conducted at four places in Gujarat, three in Karnataka, two in Madhya Pradesh and one in Goa. 107 public and private blood banks participated in this blood donation camp. 38 blood banks participated in the Mega Blood Donation Camp in Mumbai. 8,071 units of blood were collected at the blood donation camp in Mumbai. At the same time, 6,876 units of blood were collected from the camps organised in the rest of Maharashtra and four states. Therefore, a total of 15,127 units of blood were collected from blood donation camps organised by the organisation on the same day.
