China restless with Japan's proposal to deploy US nuclear weaponsLast week, former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe recorded his reaction to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Abe criticised the US investments in China while demonstrating aggression against Taiwan. Abe had lashed out that this investment is an encouragement for China.

Moreover, Abe also predicted that Chinese aggression would increase following the Russian attack on Ukraine. The former Japanese Prime Minister accused that the ambiguous US policies are conducive for China in such a decisive phase. Abe pointed out to the United States that if China took over Taiwan, Japan would become insecure as the Japanese Yonaguni Island lies just 110 kilometres from Taiwan.

Therefore, Abe suggested nuclear sharing with the United States for the security of Japan. Former Prime Minister Abe urged Japan to consider this suggestion very seriously. According to this, the United States can deploy its nuclear weapons in Japan. Analysts claimed that Abe made this recommendation to the United States given the perceived threats from China and North Korea, both nuclear countries with dictatorial regimes. But this Japanese demand has increased Chinese restlessness. The Chinese foreign ministry accused the Japanese leaders of spreading misinformation regarding Taiwan. China restless with Japan's proposal to deploy US nuclear weaponsWang Wenbin, the spokesman of the Chinese foreign ministry, claimed that Japan is violating its own three principles with the demand with the United States to deploy nuclear weapons in the country.

Following the nuclear attacks on Japan by the United States during the second world war, Japan had adopted the policy not to tread the path of nuclear weapons. While Japan has followed the principle for the last eight decades, Abe has now asked the country to distance itself from its principle. The Chinese mouthpiece newspaper showered criticism on the nuclear sharing demand made by Abe.

Meanwhile, Japan accused an increase in the subversive activities by China, North Korea and Russia near the Japanese air and marine limits. On Wednesday, Japan sent its fighter jets after the Russian helicopters flew very close to the Hokkaido airspace. Whereas, before that, it was published that North Korea tested a ballistic missile. Chinese destroyers attempted intrusion into the Japanese marine limits near the Japanese Senkaku Island group. The Japanese government is pointing to these activities.
