Israel should stop airstrikes in Syria – warns Russia

Moscow: Russia is extremely annoyed over the airstrike in the Tartus region of Syria in the last week. Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova lashed out at Israel without mentioning it. She said Russia has denounced the irresponsible action violating Syrian sovereignty and international regulations. These airstrikes must stop unconditionally. This is the second warning over airstrikes in Syria issued by Russia to Israel in the last two months.

Two citizens were injured in the attack at Al-Hamidiya in South Tartus and the Syrian mouthpiece accused that the civic facilities suffered massive damages. Moreover, Israel did not react to the accusations. But the Israeli media carried reports of the attack. Israeli media claimed that the Iranian air defence system deployed in the Al-Hamidiya area was destroyed in the attack.

Furthermore, crushing attacks had been carried out on the Damascus international airport in Syria in the last month. A vitriolic reaction had been received from Israel over the remark. Even though Russian President Vladimir Putin apologised for the remark, the tension between Russia and Israel was not reduced.
