As the Islamic Jihad and the conflict between Israel, which has been going on for the past five days, is getting more and more fierce, calls are being made worldwide to stop this conflict. The US has also called for a ceasefire, and Egypt has taken the initiative. On Friday, there were reports of Israel withdrawing from the peace talks. But Israeli officials said negotiations with Islamic Jihad, mediated by Egypt, are underway. But despite the ongoing talks, the officials said Israel was unwilling to accept the terms of Islamic Jihad to establish peace. These Israeli officials made a suggestive statement that peace would only be responded to through peace.

In other words, these officials warn that unless Islamic Jihad attacks on Israel stop, Israel’s airstrikes on Gaza will not stop. Islamic Jihad’s main demand is claimed to be an end to Israel’s attacks on its commanders in Gaza. Israel is saying that it is not possible to accept these conditions. Islamic Jihad is the second most powerful Palestinian organization in Gaza after Hamas. This organization has adopted a very harsh stance against Israel for the past few months. Israel then launched a series of strikes targeting Islamic Jihad leaders.

Furthermore, Israel launched airstrikes on the group’s command centre in Gaza after Islamic Jihad launched rocket attacks on Israeli border towns on Saturday. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced a few days ago that Israel would continue to carry out airstrikes targeting terrorists. Prime Minister Netanyahu claimed that 90 per cent of those killed in these attacks were terrorists.
