It has become challenging to control Iranian nuclear program, concern by Chief of IAEA

Vienna/Washington – Rafael Grossi, Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), warned, ‘The stock of 60% enriched Uranium with Iran is comparable to any nuclear country, and that is sufficient to build an atomic bomb. The ghost of nuclear weapon building by Iran has escaped the bottle, and now it is impossible to control it.’ Grossi warned that still, close monitoring of the Iranian nuclear program is necessary. This becomes a warning to the Biden administration keen on signing the nuclear deal with Iran and allowing concessions in sanctions.

Rafael Grossi, Director-General of IAEA, expressed severe concerns over the Iranian nuclear program during an interview with a newspaper. Grossi said, ‘Iran has stocks of 60% enriched Uranium. This will be enough for building a nuclear bomb. Barely 2% to 3% enriched Uranium is required for commercial use. Therefore, it is necessary to remain alert regarding Iran’s nuclear program, holding such big stocks of enriched Uranium.’

Grossi issued a serious warning during the interview, ‘Even if the talks held in Vienna between Iran and the United States are successful, and a nuclear deal is signed, the Iranian nuclear program cannot be pushed back. This is because the Iranian nuclear program has reached a very advanced state.’

As per the nuclear deal signed in 2015, Iran was permitted to stock 3.67% enriched Uranium. But Iran, who withdrew from the nuclear agreement nearly a year ago, has taken the enriched Uranium stock to 60%. Iran claims that its nuclear program is peaceful. But Israel, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf countries are accusing that Iran is building nuclear weapons.

Joe Biden

New negotiations started between Iran and the United States on Tuesday. Reports are being received that the Biden administration in the United States has expressed willingness to relax the sanctions. But US Secretary of State Antony Blinken complained that while speaking on the Iranian stand’s official level, it is not willing to enter into a nuclear deal.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had warned two days ago, ‘With or without US cooperation, Israel will stop Iran from acquiring nuclear capabilities. Nuclear equipped Iran will be an extreme threat for Israeli existence.’ US Secretary of State also was present at this time. Therefore, indications are that Israel will turn its focus again towards Iran once the Israel-Hamas conflict ends.
