India conveys solidarity to Global South

New Delhi: War, conflict, terrorism, geo-political tensions, high prices of food and fuel along with fertilizers, natural calamities caused by climate change and the economic impact of the Corona epidemic, the whole world is in crisis. It is difficult to say how long this instability will continue. In such a crisis, developing countries should unite and reshape global political and economic governance. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has conveyed the ‘Global South’ that this will eliminate disparity and open up opportunities on a wider scale. At the same time, the Prime Minister assured the poor and developing countries that are part of the ‘Global South’ that their voice will be India’s, and their priority will be India’s.

India conveys solidarity to Global SouthMoreover, India hosted the ‘Voice of Global South Summit’ on Thursday. While inaugurating this virtual conference, the Prime Minister appealed to the developing countries of Latin America, Africa and Asia, which are part of the Global South, to unite. Developing countries are not responsible for the dire problems facing the world. However, developing countries are suffering the dire consequences of these problems. The Prime Minister expressed the pain of these countries. In such a situation, there is no option but unity. The Prime Minister expressed his belief that the situation can change after developing countries unite and reshape global political and economic governance.

Although the Prime Minister did not mention it directly at this time, developing countries have little place in the global political and economic system that the West has influenced. Developing countries will have to unite to increase their political and economic influence to achieve this position. Three-fourths of the world’s population lives in this geographical area, and those countries should have a similar place in global affairs. Eight decades-old systems will not work for that. The Prime Minister realized that the new system must be changed and shaped.

Prime Minister Modi also pointed out that a sensitive country like India, which is aware of the problems of developing countries, can raise this matter effectively at the international level. The Prime Minister assured that the voice of Global South would be India’s voice, and their priority will be India’s priority. The Prime Minister proposed that the countries that are part of the Global South can come together and work on innovative concepts, and these new concepts can be presented at the G20 and other platforms. While saying all this, the Prime Minister also made the countries that are part of the Global South aware of their potential. The Prime Minister of India has expressed the belief that the countries coming to the Global South in the 21st century will lead to the economic development of the world and we will be able to determine the priorities of the world.

The Prime Minister also told these countries that while the world is facing many crises and problems, we must eliminate this trap by reducing our dependence on others.

Meanwhile, by organizing this conference of Latin American, African and Asian countries coming to the Global South, India has disseminated to the world that it is ready to lead these countries. Besides, claims are made that this will increase India’s influence at the international level. India has shown that it is not interested in exploiting these countries but developing them. Some analysts have claimed that India is building a new model of economic development by taking the initiative for the Global South. Earlier, developing countries worked on boosting their economies by increasing exports to rich and developed countries. But these analysts have claimed that India is trying to develop and gain a place in the market of developing countries considering their population and capacity.
