Prime Minister Modi presides a High-level meeting   

New Delhi: – A high-level meeting presided over by Prime minister Narendra Modi was held on Sunday. The defence preparedness of the country was reviewed during the meeting. As per received information, the global situation given the Russia-Ukraine war was discussed during the meeting. It is reported that Prime Minister Modi issued instructions to make all the possible efforts to make the country self-reliant in the defence sector.

Moreover, Prime Minister Modi had convened a similar high-level meeting following the flare-up of the Russia-Ukraine war. In contrast, one more meeting was held again on Sunday. India has adopted a neutral stand on Ukraine but has also presented that both countries should work out a diplomatic solution for the problem. In the last few days, Prime Minister Modi has held talks twice with Russian and Ukrainian Presidents. Against this background, the importance of this emergency meeting increases.   

As per received information, the topic of discussion in the meeting was the situation created on the global level, given the Russia-Ukraine war. More details have not been revealed. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval were present with many senior officials in this meeting. A review of Operation Ganga operated by India in Ukraine also was taken during the meeting. Prime Minister Modi also issued instructions to repatriate the Indian student who died in Ukraine.   

A review of the country’s defence preparedness was also taken during the meeting. Prime Minister Modi presented the stand ‘India must become self-reliant in the defence sector. It will strengthen the security of the country.’ Sources informed that, therefore, Prime Minister Modi issued instructions to senior officials and ministers to make all the possible efforts in making India self-reliant in the defence sector.   

The Prime Minister also reviewed the current situation on the Indian borders. Marine and air security and the acquisition of advanced technology were also discussed in the meeting.
