Gang that helped Bangladeshis to procure fake Indian passports gets busted  

Mumbai: – Mumbai police have busted a gang involved in getting passports illegally, for Bangladeshi citizens based on fake documents. Three Bangladesh citizens were arrested from Saki Naka. Two agents involved in preparing fake documents also have been arrested. Letterheads of Lawmakers were seized from these agents. The police are verifying the authenticity of the letterheads.

passportsThe police were tipped off that three Bangladeshis were living in Saki Naka on fake Indian passports. Based on the tipoff, three Bangladeshis were arrested from Saki Naka. Mohammed Hussain (25), Fauz Mujral (23) and Azimullah Shafi are the names of these arrested people. Assistant Commissioner of Police Dr Maheshwar Reddy informed that Sajid Haider Munsi and Abdul Sheikh, are the two agents arrested under the charges of helping these three to procure passports and other documents using fake documents.

Police got the information that one of the agents involved in the preparation of fake documents was residing in Malegaon. Mumbai police sent a team to Malegaon and arrested that agent. 155 Aadhaar Cards, 34 passports, 8 Ration Cards, 187 bank and postal passbooks, 29 school leaving certificates and 19 rubber stamps were seized during the search of the agent’s house in Malegaon. One of the officials said that letterheads of political leaders also were seized from the house. The official said that the authenticity of the letterhead is being verified.   

It is revealed that the modus operandi of these agents was to open an account in the bank or post office, make a ration card and get Aadhaar card, passport and PAN card based on these documents. It is suspected that these agents have helped a few more Bangladeshis to get passports, using this method and it is claimed that more information will be revealed during interrogation.   

Since the last few months, Bangladesh citizens are being arrested from various parts of the state. It is being exposed that these people are living in the states with the help of fake documents. This year, in February, 23 Bangladeshis were arrested from Palghar. Bangladeshis were arrested from Pune and Ratnagiri too.
