US Congressmen demand to deploy US military for Ukrainian security against aggressive Russian activities

Washington/Kyiv: – US Congressmen have demanded that against the background of the aggressive Russian activities along the Ukrainian border, the United States should deploy its military for the security of Ukraine. The members of the Armed Services Committee of the US Senate have written a letter to US President Joe Biden in this regard. An insistent stand that the United States should supply additional weapons and confidential information to Ukraine has been expressed in the letter. Meanwhile, the US media claimed that CIA chief William Burns warned Russia over its actions near the Ukraine border.

Last week, the thinktank CNA exposed the information regarding the Russian deployments near the Ukraine border. The information contained photographs posted on social media as well as satellite photographs. After that, the Ukrainian government endorsed this claim saying that Russia has deployed 90,000 soldiers near the Ukraine border to increase military pressure. This sequence of events has brought the issue of aggressive Russian activities once again on the anvil.

Thus, the demand made by the US Congressmen seems vital against this background. Mike Rogers and Mike Turner demanded, ‘With the recent massing of Russian forces on the Ukrainian border, we urge Biden administration to take immediate and swift action to provide support to Ukraine in the form of intelligence and weapons. We also urge you to deploy a US military presence in the Black Sea to deter a Russian invasion and immediately consider an appropriate US military presence and posture in the region.’

The demand made by Roger and Turner becomes significant as both are the members of Armed Services Committee. Their letter also mentions the defence aid of $60 million by the United States to Ukraine. The Congressmen have also drawn attention to the Russian activities have increased after this assistance was provided. They also claimed that this could be the indication of a new intrusion by Russia into Ukraine.

Meanwhile, it is being revealed that the US intelligence chief raised the Ukraine issue last week during his visit to Russia. A US news channel carried a report in this respect. The report claims that CIA chief William Burns warned the Russian officials over the Russian activities near Ukraine.
