Commander of Pakistan-affiliated Haqqani network joins Tehreek -

Islamabad: Tipu Gul Marwat, Commander from the Haqqani Network, the most influential Taliban group, has joined Tehreek-e-Taliban. Haqqani Network is considered to be the group in the Taliban under Pakistani influence. Recently Tehreek had warned of massive bloodshed in Pakistan. At the same time, reports have surfaced that relations between Pakistan and the Taliban in Afghanistan are becoming tense. Against this background, Marwat joining Tehreek could be dangerous for Pakistani security. Tipu Gul Marwat controls the Lucky Marwat district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan. Until now, this region has been under the control of the Haqqani Network. But it is being claimed that as the three groups controlling the Marwat region and their supporters have joined Tehreek, the region is now under Tehreek control. Since January, reports of small and big groups from Waziristan and surrounding regions merging with Tehreek have been received. But senior local commander of the Haqqani Network joining Tehreek has created a sensation.

Haqqani Network is the Taliban group under the notorious Pakistani intelligence agency ISI. The Pakistan military eliminated terrorist groups that were becoming difficult to control using the Haqqani Network. Whereas the cooperation between Haqqani Network and ISI had been blamed for having been responsible for the terrorism and instability in Afghanistan. Haqqani Network has a significant influence even in the Taliban government that came to power in Afghanistan last year. Pakistan was planning to take control of Afghanistan using the same Haqqani Network.

There had been celebrations in Pakistan after Afghanistan fell in the hands of the Taliban. But the picture has changed over the last few months and the other groups in the Taliban have become aggressive against Pakistan. The accusations made by the Taliban groups against Pakistan of denying the rights of the Pashtun people and acquiring their territory are intensifying. This benefits Tehreek, fighting against the Pakistani security agencies. It is claimed that certain Taliban groups are merging with Tehreek.

Tehreek had threatened a few days ago that they would perpetrate massive bloodshed in Pakistan if their demands were not met. Whereas, even the Taliban in Afghanistan had refused to side with Pakistan in this dispute, saying that Pakistan should consider the Tehreek demands. Criticism is being made that the Taliban is betraying Pakistan by refusing to stand with it, even after Pakistan provided all the possible assistance to the Taliban to gain power in Afghanistan and even absorbing pressures exerted by the United States and other western countries at times. Some analysts have expressed a fear that the Taliban in Afghanistan will fully support all future Tehreek activities.

Currently, there is political instability in Pakistan and an intense conflict between the government and the opposition. In this scenario, reports of the Taliban preparing to enter Pakistan politics are also being received.
