China slams Taliban for avoiding action against ETIM

Doha/Beijing – A few days ago, China appealed to the international community to recognise the Taliban government. However, it has now adopted a tough stand against the Taliban. The leaders and terrorists of the East Turkistan Islamic Movement (ETIM), fighting for the rights of the Uyghurs in China, are based in Afghanistan. Although the Taliban assured to act against them, nothing has been done so far. China has complained about the Taliban not handing over the leaders of ETIM to them as promised. Therefore, China suspects Taliban to behave like agent of the United States. The Chinese analysts have started predicting that the US military withdrawal is a conspiracy hatched by the United States and India against China.

He cautioned his country during a meeting of military analysts. Military withdrawal from Afghanistan could be a part of a more comprehensive US strategy. Following the military withdrawal from Afghanistan, the United States is preparing to form a strong military alliance with India to challenge China. In this scenario, the Chinese concern is that the Taliban could act as an agent of the United States. The Chinese apprehension has increased as the Taliban is not initiating an action against the ETIM, despite repeated demands. Therefore, China has decided to set up a military base in Tajikistan, near the Afghan border, considering the ETIM threat.
