Biden administration plotting to increase pressure on India to adopt stand against Russia

Washington: The US President had slandered that India is hesitant in opposing Russia, the attacker of Ukraine. While reactions are being received from India over this, the US state department has claimed that the India-US cooperation is voluntary. Whereas, US Deputy Secretary for the state, Victoria Nuland, delivered a message that the Russia-China closeness will be dangerous for India. Therefore, India has no option but to join hands with the United States. Consequently, it is becoming clear that the Biden administration is trying its pressure tactics against India.

Biden administration plotting to increase pressure on India to adopt stand against RussiaThe Biden administration tried to get India to oppose the Russian attack on Ukraine and stand with the United States. But India did not pay any heed to the US pressure. Once it became clear that India would not leave the side of the traditional partner Russia, the Biden administration has decided to increase the pressure further on India. Victoria Nuland visited India for this purpose. During the same period, US President Biden accused India is hesitant to take a stand against Russia. Biden added that excepting India, all the other members of QUAD had taken an aggressive stand against Russia.

Moreover, reactions are being received from India over these statements of Biden. Indian media are claiming that these statements are a warning for India. But US State Department spokesman Ned Price said that India is a vital partner country of the United States and the India-US partnership is voluntary. Price pointed out that every administration in the United States attaches equal importance to cooperation with India. Price also claimed that although India and Russia are traditional allies, the Indian and US views on the free and open Indo-Pacific sector are the same.

Whereas Nuland warned that the Russia-China closeness would prove dangerous for India during her India visit. Nuland also proposed that the United States was willing to supply any weapons to India. At the same time, Nuland said that the United States does not expect India to stop oil purchases from Russia.

While pointing to the Chinese threat, the United States warned that India has no option other than cooperating with the United States. For the last few weeks, the United States is warning that there is a significant perceived threat to India from China. It is now becoming clear that the same tactics are behind this.

India did not care for US sanctions while purchasing the S-400 air defence system from Russia. India decided to buy oil from Russia at a time when the Biden administration has been showering sanctions on Russia since the beginning of the Ukraine war. India has demonstrated that India will not be a part of the US-NATO tactics against Russia. This Indian neutral stand has strongly influenced other countries. Like India, countries from the Indian subcontinent and some countries from the Middle East have adopted a neutral stand on the Russia-Ukraine war. This is bothering the Biden administration and it has decided to pressurise India to stand with the United States against Russia.

Biden administration always refers to India as an important partner country. With this, it becomes clear that this administration is looking at India as a partner and not a colleague. At the same time, the Biden administration has lost the confidence of its allies around the globe and not one of them is happy with the policies of Biden. There is no possibility of the pressures of the Biden administration, which has lost credibility, having any effect on India. But using this refusal, the Biden administration may raise the baton of sanctions against India and target the Indian economy. The Biden administration has been preparing for this for a long time.
