Illegal refugees in Italy a ‘Social Time Bomb’, warns former Prime Minister Berlusconi

Rome: More than 600,000 refugees that have entered Italy are illegal and these refugees are nothing but a ‘Social Time Bomb’, warned former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. He stated that if his government comes to power in the coming elections scheduled next month, 600,000 illegal refugees will be expelled from the country. Berlusconi’s statement is the indication of the increasing intensity of the anti-refugee sentiment in the major European countries.

italy, refugees, libia‘As of now, there are 630,000 refugees in Italy. Out of these only 5% are i.e. 30,000 have a right of taking shelter and living in this country. The remaining 600,000 represent only a time bomb for the country which can burst any time. Quick decision about the refugees is the need of the hour,’ warned Berlusconi. He also stated that if his government come to power he will find a solution to the refugee crisis and even deploy the army for the security of the Italian people.

Italy is going to conduct polls on the 4th of March and the anti-establishment, ‘Five star movement’, is leading in the surveys. At the same time, the three times Prime Minister, Berlusconi’s ‘Forza Italia’ party has formed an alliance with the ‘Northern League’ and the ‘Brothers of Italy’ parties to form a front. The front is getting more and more support and there are indications that this front will decide the government in Italy after the March elections.

‘Northern League’ and ‘Brothers of Italy’ have taken an aggressive stand against the refugee insurgence and have been firm on their demand for expulsion of illegal refugees. Berlusconi has upheld the same stand as his alliance partners and is becoming more insistent on refugee issue. While referring to the refugees as ‘Social Time Bomb’ and asking for their expulsion, he has blamed that the problem has been created by the leftist minded people in power for the past few years.

italy, refugees, libiaThe ruling ‘Democratic Party’, has dismissed the allegations. The main reason behind the refugee problem is the conflict in Libya, and this conflict had already started when Berlusconi was the Prime Minister, was the reply given by Matteo Renzi. Whereas the ‘5 star movement’ leader, Luigi Di Maio, has also claimed Berlusconi to be responsible for refugees ‘Time Bomb’.

Seven major Mayors in France, only last month, had warned uncontrolled mobs of refugees entering to be a ‘Social Emergency’. Whereas one of the reports of the German government infers that there is an increase in the crime rate and the refugee mobs from the Gulf and the African countries are responsible for this. The Hungarian Prime Minister has sternly warned that the mobs of refugees are not migrants, but only are aggressors from the other religions.
