200 new cases reported in the country, in the last 24 hours

New Delhi: The number of coronavirus cases in the country has reached 950, in the last 24 hours. 200 new cases have been added in the last 24 hours. Concerns are being expressed that the number of cases will rise rapidly in the next few days. The union and state governments are gearing up for the eventuality. The prime minister has appealed to the citizens for financial contributions and has said that these funds will be used to fight crises like these.

200 new cases reported in the country, in the last 24 hoursIt has been four days since the prime minister imposed a total lockdown in the country. But the citizens of the country still do not seem to have realised the importance of the lockdown. Citizens are observed to be loitering around, disregarding the instructions issued by the union and state governments, to be in their homes and get out only for essential work. Therefore, the police have initiated actions against these defaulting citizens.

Serious issues have been created on certain state borders, as the migrant workers are trying to return to their hometowns. Thousands of migrants and their relatives are stranded at the state borders, as the borders have been sealed and there are no means of transport available. This problem is predominantly seen in Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh along with Maharashtra. Therefore, appeals are being made to the citizens to be stationed wherever they are. Social organisations have come forward to assist migrant workers.

Repeated appeals are being made to the citizens to exhibit restraint, for a few days, while the number of coronavirus cases are on the rise. The health department official informed that efforts are being made to focus attention on areas with a higher number of coronavirus cases. The official also told that special medical facilities have been created in all the states to attend to the coronavirus patients.

The number of cases has been rising in the last three days. On Thursday, 80 new cases were reported whereas 100 new cases were reported on Friday. On Saturday, 200 new cases were reported and of these 28 cases were reported in Maharashtra. This has taken the total number of cases in Maharashtra to 181. Twenty-two new cases were found in Mumbai, taking the total to 73. Nagpur reported two cases and Palghar, Vasai and Navi Mumbai, reported one case each.

Meanwhile, the prime minister appealed to the citizens to contribute to the PM-Cares Fund. Funds have started coming in the PM-Cares Fund. Tata group has contributed ₹ 15 billion in the PM-Cares Fund.
