Secessionist elements on rise in US: University of Virginia

Washington: The number of people who believe that the United States must be split into two parts with supporters of Democrats and Republicans has increased. Republican voters who supported ex-US President Donald Trump and Democrat voters favoured Joe Biden have backed this proposal of two separate nations. The Centre for Politics from the University of Virginia has revealed this shocking news via its report. Over the last three months, this is the second report about the US separation.

The Center for Politics from the University of Virginia has launched the study of intense political differences in the United States with the help of ‘Project Homefire Initiative’ and Innovate MR. This study has revealed that the political differences intensify dangerously, claimed Center for Politics Chief, Larry J. Sabato. “The divide between Trump and Biden voters is deep, wide, and dangerous. Its scope is unprecedented, and it will not be easily fixed,’ warned Sabato.

Moreover, 52% of Trump voters and 41% of Biden voters supported the proposal for the US division. The United States can be separated into two independent countries as Red States, controlled by the Republicans and the Blue States, owned by the Democrats. The Center for Politics has reported this as the opinion of the supporters. Besides, over 40% of voters have backed the decision to hand over all controls to their Presidents.

Also, over 75% of supporters from both parties have warned that the other party is dangerous. Republican party supporters have compared the Democrat party to socialists; the Democrat party supporters have mentioned the Republican party as fascists. Besides, if the need arises, both party voters have voiced to prioritise fulfilling their agenda, keeping aside the rules and values of democracy. Moreover, the Center for Politics has expressed fear that if this situation persists, those coordinating with the two parties will become extinct.

In July, the demand for US division had surfaced via surveys conducted by Bright Line Watch and YouGov organisations. The report showed that 66% of Republican supporters voted for separating from the United States of America. Besides, about 50% of nonpartisans have also demanded to separate from the United States. 40% of Democrat supporters from West and Northeast America, the places considered as the solid pillars of the Democrat party, have also voted for this separation.
