PM Modi asserts that India will work to promote human-centric globalisationOn this occasion, Prime Minister Modi explained the need to accelerate the transition from the current concept of globalisation of a self-centred approach that fuels scarcity and conflict to a new humanity-based process. The Prime Minister has assured that India will use its G20 presidency for a more human-centric globalisation. Therefore, India’s presidency for G20 is not just a routine term. The presidency term is coming to India in a much challenging geopolitical situation with the ongoing war in Ukraine and Coronavirus pandemic. At the same time, India is completing 75 years of independence, a very big event. In such a situation, this presidency of India will be all-inclusive and ambitious. Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said that he believes that India will try to overcome international challenges by taking everyone alongside. Citing the statement of Prime Minister Modi and Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, the western media has claimed that India has again taken a stand in favour of Russia, which is waging war in Ukraine.

India is urging Russia to participate in the G20 conference. Arindam Bagchi, a spokesperson of India’s Ministry of External Affairs, said that Russia should fully participate in this conference, and India expects Russian participation in every session. There was a demand to exclude Russia from the previous G20. Some countries claimed that the war in Ukraine necessitated such a decision. However, the Ministry of External Affairs of India has shown that no matter what claims the West makes, this will not affect India’s relations with Russia. By clarifying that India expects the full participation of Russia in the G20, India has given a clear message that there is no impact on the relations between the two countries.
