The US will not allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons under any circumstances – US President’s new assurance to Israel

Washington/Vienna: The nuclear agreement that the United States is making with Iran is a violator of the ‘red line,’ i.e. limit drawn by President Joe Biden himself. Israel’s Prime Minister Yair Lapid warned that the deal would help Iran prepare for a nuclear bomb. President Biden has assured in his discussion with Israeli PM Lapid that the US will not allow Iran to equip itself with a nuclear bomb under any circumstances. However, the Israeli media has claimed that this has not satisfied the PM of Israel.

The US will not allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons under any circumstances - US President's new assurance to IsraelThe senior leaders of the European Union claim that the nuclear agreement with Iran has reached its final stage and will be concluded in the next few days. Iran has demanded concrete guarantees from the US for this nuclear deal. The Biden administration has not responded to Iran’s demand. But the White House claimed that the US is closer to a nuclear deal than ever before.

However, Israel accuses the deal would accelerate Iran’s nuclear programme rather than stopping it. Israeli PM Yair Lapid issued a warning just four days ago. At the same time, Lapid had warned that President Biden was violating the red line he had drawn by making this agreement with Iran. Lapid had also appealed that President Biden should withdraw from this without making such a bad nuclear deal with Iran.

Taking note of this appeal made by the Prime Minister of Israel, President Biden discussed it with Prime Minister Lapid for 45 minutes over the phone. The two leaders claimed to have discussed the Iran nuclear deal and the threat posed by Iran. Though the US has been reviving the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran, Biden assured the Israeli Prime Minister that he would stand by his position of not allowing Iran to acquire nuclear weapons.

However, Israel is adamant that the nuclear deal the Biden administration is making with Iran will not benefit Israel’s security under any circumstances. Therefore, PM Lapid reminded Israel has the right to self-defence even if the US and Western countries sign a nuclear deal with Iran.

Meanwhile, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has expressed concern in its new report that Iran, preparing to sign a nuclear agreement with the United States, has increased uranium enrichment in the Natanz nuclear project. This report of the Atomic Energy Commission could affect the US-Iran nuclear deal.
