US president approves defence budget of $768 billion

Washington – On Monday, US President Joe Biden signed the National Defence Authorisation Act (NDAA) draft for 2022. The White House informed that this is the approval of the defence budget of $768 billion. After an intense debate between the ruling Democrats and the opposition Republican party, the concerned defence budget was passed.

It is claimed that the NDAA has proposed an increase of 5% in the defence budget. There is a provision of $7 billion for the Pacific Deterrence Initiative in the NDAA. It is speculated that the budget has a substantial provision to counter the Chinese influence in the Indo-Pacific sector and Taiwan’s security.

$300 million has been sanctioned for Ukraine Security Assistance. Under this, assistance will be provided to the Ukrainian military. $4 billion is provided for the European Defence Initiative and $150 million is allocated for the security of Baltic countries.
