US should deploy nuclear weapons in Poland: Deputy PM of Poland

Warsaw/Washington: – Jarosław Kaczyński, Deputy Prime Minister of Poland, proposed that the United States should deploy nuclear weapons in Poland. The Polish leader also demanded that the United States increase its military deployment in Europe by 50% while deploying nuclear weapons. Two years ago, Poland had proposed a permanent US military base in the country to the then US President Donald Trump. Although talks are being held between the two countries, there is no formal agreement.

Poland leads the countries bitterly opposing the Russian attack on Ukraine. Poland has adopted an adamant stand on a complete ban on trade with Russia and sending peacekeepers to Ukraine. Poland has also expressed willingness to supply fighter jets to Ukraine. The demand for nuclear weapons and additional military deployment appears to be a part of the aggressive anti-Russia policy.

Jarosław Kaczyński, Deputy Prime Minister of Poland, said that his country was willing to deploy the ‘Tactical Nuclear Weapons’ of the United States. Deputy Prime Minister Kaczyński also demanded that the United States increase its military deployment to 150,000. Currently, there are nearly a hundred thousand US soldiers deployed in Europe and 5,000 out of these are deployed in Poland.

Differences had been exposed in the past, among the European countries, over the deployment of US nuclear weapons in Europe. As per official information, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Turkey, and Italy have US nuclear weapons deployed. It has been revealed that European bases other than these also have been used for nuclear deployments. The US nuclear deployment in Europe is the reason for Russian displeasure and this is one of the demands made by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Therefore, a Russian reaction is expected to the Polish demand.
