Moreover, Ibrahim Kalin, the Turkish President’s media Spokesperson, warned in his media post that the Ukraine crisis would deepen. Kalin retorted that some countries are searching for a new power centre for short-term gains. President Erdogan’s spokesman avoided elaborating on the issue. But Kalin expressed a concern that the world will be drawn into a new Cold War as the after-effect of the Ukraine conflict. Kalin warned that this Cold War would not end any time soon and the effects would last for many decades to come.

So far, Turkey has avoided taking sides in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Turkey has registered strong protests against the harsh sanctions imposed by the western countries on Russia. Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu claimed that the Turkish foreign policy is very balanced. Turkey criticized the western countries for imposing sanctions against Russia.

‘Will the western countries withdraw the sanctions imposed against Russia if it withdrew its military from Ukraine in the coming times?’ was the question posed by Cavusoglu. International media had claimed that the western countries would not withdraw the sanctions even if Russia withdrew from Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin also had said that a situation graver than a Cold War had been created. President Putin had accused the western countries were responsible for the situation.
