Terrorist Pakistan is the biggest hindrance in SAARC cooperation – MEA S Jaishankar

Varanasi: Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif announced that Pakistan would make efforts to provide an impetus to the SAARC conference. Prime Minister Sharif also criticized India has hampered SAARC cooperation. Subsequently, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar gave a fitting reply. Jaishankar pointed out that the SAARC organization has not been active because of a country that believes there is nothing wrong in using terrorism while dealing with neighbouring countries. At the same time, the External Affairs Minister has also warned that India will not play cricket with a country that openly supports terrorism. By doing so, India will not free a country that uses terrorism from pressure.

Terrorist Pakistan is the biggest hindrance in SAARC cooperation - MEA S JaishankarMoreover, Pakistan’s economy has gone into the abyss and the country’s foreign reserves are now less than seven billion dollars. Pakistan needs more money to pay the bills for vegetables and other essentials landed at Karachi port. Due to this, vegetables in 400 containers at Karachi port are rotting. In such a situation, the Prime Minister of Pakistan is bragging about promoting SAARC cooperation. Also, the Prime Minister of Pakistan has tried to target India by criticizing that this cooperation is not progressing due to India. Indian analysts have severely criticized his empty claims. Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar pointed out that SAARC cooperation was broken only because of Pakistan’s terrorism.

Avoiding direct naming, Jaishankar attacked Pakistan’s terror policies. SAARC cooperation was broken because of a country that believed there was nothing wrong in using terrorism while dealing with neighbouring countries. However, India’s cooperation with countries like Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka, which are members of SAARC, has gone from strength to strength in the last five years. Jaishankar pointed out that India’s cooperation with these countries on trade, investment and other fronts is expanding. But terrorism and drug trafficking in Pakistan is the main problem of SAARC, India’s External Affairs Minister pointed out.

Despite this, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar clarified that India has successfully presented Pakistan’s terrorist face to the world more effectively. Earlier, the world had a similar outlook regarding India and Pakistan. But that is not happening now. Jaishankar further said that India is now playing a more effective role on the regional front and has emerged as an important power. Meanwhile, while speaking to a news channel, Jaishankar asserted that India would not play cricket with Pakistan. If India did not participate in the Asia Cup held in Pakistan, Pakistan had threatened that Pakistan would not participate in the ODI World Cup held in India. But such competitions keep happening, and India does not decide its policy based on them. Jaishankar warned that he would not change India’s policy. The External Affairs Minister asked, ‘Will you change your policies for a country demanding discussion pointing a gun at your head?’

It is the duty of the country that is the victim of terrorism to increase the pressure on the country that uses terrorism more and more. There cannot be a mistake on this front. On the contrary, India should lead the international campaign against terrorism; Jaishankar pointed out that otherwise, pressure cannot be exerted on the countries that support terrorism. Given this, the External Affairs Minister has clearly warned that no matter how many threats are issued by Pakistan, they will not affect Indian policies.

In a meeting held in Varanasi and a program on a news channel, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar presented India’s position regarding Pakistan precisely. Pakistan constantly claims that if cricket starts between India and Pakistan, the relations between the two countries will improve. Former Pakistani cricketers have been continuously appealing to India for this and complaining that India has not shown the generosity to accept their demand. But Pakistan, begging India for cricket, is not ready to cooperate with India on trade and other fronts. Therefore, Pakistan’s claims that it wants good relations with India with the only demand to play cricket seems to be a pretence on the part of this country. Indian analysts have pointed this out from time to time.
