PM Modi appeals people of the nation to buy indigenous productsOn Thursday, a 108 feet tall Hanuman idol was unveiled at Morbi in Gujarat. While addressing the people through a virtual medium, the Prime Minister said that Hanuman was an important formula of the ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ programme. The Prime Minister also reminded that spiritual conscience was a major force of the Indian freedom struggle. Saying that remembering Hanuman gives a sense of service and dedication, the Prime Minister said that the country would progress proportionate to the growth in the sense of service.

The prime minister said that there is no alternative to progress, citing the current scenario and saying that this has to be accepted. The Prime Minister pointed out that if people of the nation started using domestic products more and more over the next 25 years, it would end the country’s unemployment. Even if there are minor differences in the domestic and imported products, preference should be given to the domestically made products. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that this would change the dynamics of the country.

Meanwhile, the appeal made by the Prime Minister has the background of the current international developments. Countries grappled with the supply chain crisis created by the Coronavirus pandemic are facing an acute shortage of many products. The situation of the countries dependent on the imported product has become grave. This has underlined the importance of expediting the domestic manufacture of products. Learning a lesson from this, India has already started prioritising indigenous manufacture of products required in the defence and industrial sectors.

At the same time, India is giving a message to the international industry ‘Make in India, Make for the World’. This is already receiving a good response and many multinational companies exiting China are considering shifting their manufacturing bases to India.

In this scenario, the Prime Minister is pointing out that the purchase of products manufactured in India would give an impetus to the country’s economy. The Prime Minister has pointed out to the Indian population that consumer power can be used more effectively for the country’s growth.
