Manila: illegal constructions have started cropping up near the Chinese militia ships camping in the Philippines marine region. The Philippines criticized that these constructions are a threat to marine security and peace. The Philippines military Chief warned that their country had the right to take action against these illegal constructions. Two days ago, the Philippines had appealed to China to recall these ships.

The Filipino military Chief avoided accusing China of the constructions directly. But the Filipino military informed that these constructions are coming up near the Chinese militia ships.

Moreover, the Filipino Military Chief warned of action against those responsible for illegal constructions and posing a challenge to the Filipino security in the South China Sea. Lieutenant General Cirilito Sobejana warned that the concerned illegal constructions and activities prove dangerous for the marine sector’s peace, stability, and security. Our country has undisputed and special rights over this marine region and the international regulations also award these rights to the Philippines. Therefore, Philippines will continue with its efforts to safeguard its national interests in the sector.

Last month, 220 Chinese militia ships intruded into the marine limits of the Julien Filip island. Philippines accused that the ships in the fleet are being led by trained Chinese militia. Philippines had appealed that China, who is militarizing the marine region by sending militia ships, should summon them back. The Philippines has started marine as well as air surveillance against these ships. Two days ago, the Philippines made a fresh appeal to China to recall the ships, but even after a month of the intrusion, these Chinese militia ships are present in large numbers in the marine region.

In this scenario, the Philippines is levelling a grave allegation that illegal constructions are being carried out around these militia ships. At the same time, the Philippines is also issuing a warning to take action against these illegal constructions. Discussions had been held between the Philippines and the United States before issuing this warning.
