Pakistan’s objection to delimitation process ridiculous, says India’s Foreign Ministry

New Delhi: India has decided to delimit the assembly constituencies in Jammu-Kashmir. Pakistan is trying to interfere in the process and has passed a resolution in its Parliament condemning it. The Indian foreign ministry scoffed at Pakistan over this. ‘It is ridiculous that instead of putting their own house in order, Pakistan is interfering in India’s internal affairs,’ said Arindam Bagchi, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs.

Pakistan's objection to delimitation process ridiculous, says India's Foreign MinistryMoreover, Pakistan’s new foreign minister, Bilawal Bhutto, expressed concerns over restructuring the Assembly constituencies in Jammu-Kashmir by India. Currently, there is major political dissension in Pakistan and the ruling and opposition parties are out to finish each other. In such a scenario, the Pakistani government is trying to bring the situation under control by calling for unity on the Kashmir issue. But even though Pakistan’s Parliament has approved a proposal to register a protest against India’s reorganisation of the assembly constituency in Jammu and Kashmir, the government has not been able to establish unity on the issue.

In this scenario, the spokesman of the Indian foreign ministry has cited the internal situation in Pakistan. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi criticised that a country which cannot handle its domestic affairs properly is poking its nose in India’s internal affairs. ‘Along with Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir is also an integral part of India. Pakistan has no right to comment on developments here. Pakistan should focus on fixing its country’s crisis,’ Arindam Bagchi said.

Meanwhile, 24 Assembly constituencies in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir have been retained while restructuring Assembly constituencies. The members of the Union Cabinet are confident that in the future, this territory will be freed from Pakistan‘s illegal occupation and will come under India’s control. Some Pakistani analysts have repeatedly expressed concern that India would soon launch an offensive to seize Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
