The Pakistani terrorists attempting intrusion through the Line of Control (LOC) are also making intrusion attempts through the international border. BSF had noticed that underground tunnels are being used for infiltration through the international border. This information was extracted during the interrogation of the terrorists apprehended in the past. After that, the BSF undertook the Anti-Tunnelling Operation, since the last six months. The area near the fencing on the border is being inspected to locate the tunnels.

The new tunnel was found in the Pansar region in the Hiranagar sector. This tunnel is 150 metres long with a diameter of 3 feet. This tunnel is at a depth of 30 feet. Seeing the tunnel structure, it is clear that the Pakistan military has helped the terrorists dig the tunnel. A major infiltration plot has been busted with the discovery of the tunnel.

This is the second tunnel found in the Hiranagar sector, in the last 10 days. Before this, a 150 metres long tunnel was found near the Bobian village. Sand-bags with markings of a shop in Karachi had also been found in this tunnel. The other two tunnels discovered in the last six months also had proofs of Pakistan military involvement.

As of today, it has become challenging for the terrorists to infiltrate through the LOC. The Indian Army has increased patrolling on the LOC. The firing carried out by the Pakistan army to assist the terrorists for infiltration, is being retaliated strongly by the Indian Army. Pakistan wanted to perpetrate terrorist activities to draw the international community’s attention towards Jammu-Kashmir, after the abrogation of Article 370. But Pakistan has become restless as these attempts have failed. Now there is an increase in the infiltration attempts through the international border into India. These tunnels are being used for this purpose. A Pakistani drone, attempting to smuggle arms, had been shot down in the same region, where the tunnel was discovered. In 2019, major infiltration attempt also had been foiled in this region.
