Most wanted Maoist arrested in Chhattisgarh  

Raipur: – The security agencies arrested the Most wanted Maoist carrying rewards announced by states of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, worth hundreds of thousands, on his head. This Maoist commander was injured in an encounter at Ranjangaon in Chhattisgarh.

On Tuesday night, nearly 20 to 22 Maoists were waiting in ambush, in the forests at Ranjangaon in Chhattisgarh, to attack the Security Forces. The Maoists started indiscriminate firing, as soon as the vehicles of the patrolling parties of Indo Tibetan Border Police and the local police were sighted on the road. The soldiers from the security forces replied vehemently to the firing. The Maoists escaped taking advantage of darkness, following the encounter which lasted for nearly half an hour. But one prized Maoist was injured in the encounter. He was later arrested in the search operation launched by the security forces.  

The name of the Maoist Commander is David AKA Umesh Sakeen. He is the platoon Commander of the People’s Liberations Army for Maharashtra, Chattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. In all, there is a reward of ₹2.9 million on his head. Sakeen was involved in terror attacks in all the three states and new recruitments. The security forces seized an AK 47 rifle, cartridge, walkie talkie set and medical equipment from him. An official from the security forces claimed that important information would surface during his interrogation.   

Meanwhile, 18 Maoists surrendered in Dantewada in Chhattisgarh, on Wednesday. These include a female Maoist. These Maoists surrendered under the Return to Home scheme announced by the Central Reserve Police force. Now, local employment will be made available to them. A Maoist base in the Kandhamal district of Odisha has also been destroyed.
