Junta army launches attacks on the population in Sagaing and Thatlang; nearly 200 abducted & 100 houses torched

SagaingNaypyidaw – The atrocities of the Junta regime, which took over power overthrowing the elected government in Myanmar, are seen to be increasing. More than 200 locals, including 85 children, were abducted from the Sagaing province by the Junta army in the last two days. At the same time, locals accused that the military torched nearly 100 houses in the Thatlang region. While the people of Myanmar are protesting against this, the Biden administration has invited the representatives of Myanmar’s Junta regime for the special meeting of the ASEAN countries to be held in Washington.

The military raided the Chinpone village in the Sagaing province for three successive days. The army abducted 200 people, including 85 children, and held them hostages. It is claimed that several children are around the age of five in it. Nine people were killed when the army opened fire on the people opposing the operation. Citizens from this village were linked with the People’s Defence Force (PDF) fighting against the Junta regime. It is said that this is the reason for the military action.

More than 100 houses in the Thatlang region in the Chin State of Myanmar were set on fire by the Myanmar military. It is accused that the army has set fires on 26 occasions in the Chin State in the last month. It is criticised that the Myanmar army more specifically targeted the Tahtlang region. A few months ago, the rebels from the Chin State had launched an attack on the Myanmar soldiers, causing heavy losses. The insurgents even shot down a helicopter of the Myanmar army. After that, the Myanmar army seems to be targeting the people in the Thatlang province in vengeance.

Moreover, like the Chin State, the Myanmar army also carried out dangerous actions in the Magwe province in north-western Myanmar. Ten people were brutally killed in a military raid carried out in the Gango region. Incidents of airstrikes by the military in the Magwe province in the last month also have been reported. The armed gangs in Magwe province also fight the Junta regime, like the other provinces in Myanmar. Reports of gangs linked to PDF carrying out attacks on the army and police force are received. It is claimed that 30 soldiers have been killed in these attacks.

SagaingThe Myanmar army overthrew the Aung San Suu Kyi government nearly a year ago. The Myanmar army that took over the country’s reins continued action against its opponents. The Junta regime has banned international and local media to prevent the reports from reaching outside the country. However, the actions of the Junta regime are coming in front of the international community over social media.

Meanwhile, The United States has invited the Junta regime representatives, which overthrew the elected government in Myanmar, to the ASEAN meeting. The Biden administration has convened a special meeting of the ASEAN countries in Washington on 28th and 29th March. Criticism is rife that the Biden administration approves the Junta regime in Myanmar. Therefore, it is exposed that the uproar of the Myanmar population is not reaching the ears of the Biden administration, which is said to promote human rights.
