At the same time, to retaliate the US decision, Iran had reacted to it saying that it would also announce the US defence forces as a terrorist organisation. Following President Trump’s designation to IRGC as a terrorist organisation on Monday, Iran in return accused the United States of being the biggest sponsor of terrorism and announced that the US Soldiers in the Middle East are terrorists. Also, Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif claimed that the United States had invited big troubles by declaring the IRGC as a terrorist outfit.

President Rouhani asked, ‘Who gave the right to the United States, to declare the IRGC as a terrorist organisation?’ President Rouhani supported the IRGC justifying them saying, ‘The IRGC has made huge sacrifices for the Iranian people and the Islamic revolution in Iran.’ Furthermore, the Iranian President accused the United States, which has declared the IRGC as a terrorist organisation of being the biggest sponsor of terrorism in the world.

IRGC is the central unit of the Iranian military and is lead by the Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei. Previously, the terrorist organisations of Hezbollah in Lebanon, as well as Hamas and the Islamic Jihad in the Gaza Strip, were alleged to be receiving assistance from the IRGC.
