Iran has plotted ex-US NSA John Bolton’s assassination: US weekly -

Washington: A plot to assassinate former US National Security Advisor (NSA) John Bolton has been exposed. Washington Examiner, a US weekly, informed that two agents of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards are a part of the plot. The Biden administration has complete information regarding the plot. The weekly made a sensational claim that the Biden administration is avoiding any action against the Iranian agents as the negotiations for the Iran nuclear deal is in their final stages.

Two agents from the Iranian Revolutionary Guards had finalised the plot to assassinate Bolton. The US intelligence agency has information that these agents are readying to attack Bolton. All the details regarding this are available with the Biden administration, NSA Jake Sullivan, US Secret service and justice department.

In this scenario, it was expected from the US Security agencies to take any action against the Iranian agents. Officials from the justice department told the weekly that it was necessary to arrest them or impose sanctions against the concerned people. The Washington Examiner claimed that the Biden administration did not initiate any action against the agents of Iran.

The weekly pointed out that if any foreign agents attempt to kill a US citizen on US land, it is considered an ‘Act of War’. The weekly pointed out that the Biden administration has committed a blunder by failing to take any action against the Iranian agents. The Biden administration beefed up security provided to former NSA Bolton at the end of 2021 and the first week of January. It deployed additional FBI officials outside his residence. The US weekly pointed out that NSA Sullivan issued a veiled warning to Iran, saying that the United States can protect its current and former officials. The US weekly accused that the Biden administration is avoiding action against the Iranian agents to avoid any obstacles in the Iran nuclear deal negotiations and ensure that the deal is signed at the earliest. The weekly has quoted sources to support the claim that this is a major cause of concern for US security.

John Bolton, who was the NSA during the tenure of former US President Donald Trump, is a bitter opponent of Iran. Bolton had warned in the past that Iran is developing a nuclear weapon and it is a major threat to the security of Israel and the other US allies in the Middle East. Bolton had presented a stand that the United States should impose tough sanctions and choose the military option.

It is claimed that along with Bolton, former Secretary of state Mike Pompeo also is on Iranian target. Two years ago, the United States had eliminated QUDS Forces Chief General Qasem Soleimani in a drone attack in Iraq. The revolutionary Guards had plotted to kill Bolton and Pompeo, holding them responsible for the attack.

Meanwhile, US lawmakers persistently accuse the Biden administration of jeopardising US security for signing the nuclear deal with Iran. The report in Washington Examiner endorses these accusations. If the US opposition leaders and media highlight the issue, the problems faced by the Biden administration could fester further.
