JaishankarMoreover, questions are being repeatedly raised over the stand adopted by India over the Ukraine issue during the Raisina dialogue. The Indian External Affairs Minister competently answered each of the questions. On Wednesday, Jaishankar also warned that the focus should be on ending the war in Ukraine and resuming talks. Jaishankar pointed out that India has maintained this stand from the very beginning. But the United States and European countries have been accused of trying to prolong Ukraine’s war instead of ending it. The foreign minister seems to have referred to these accusations through his statements. At the same time, there is no need for India to gain world recognition by showing weakness. India should not try to show what we are not. Instead, it would be better for India to negotiate with the world the way we are. India no longer needs to please the world. Jaishankar added that such times are long gone. Through this, Jaishankar conveyed the message that the efforts of the US and other countries to put pressure on India will not be successful.

At the same time, the External Affairs Minister expressed confidence that in the next 25 years, India will become truly ‘international’ by fulfilling its global commitment and responsibilities and role. India does not need to look at the world with a sense of entitlement in the future. Instead, it should try to build its place in the world. For this, it will be necessary to present the extent to which the world will benefit from India’s progress, said Jaishankar.

At the same time, Jaishankar pointed out that India was once the only democratic country in the South Asian region. Democracy flourished in South Asia because of India. The External Affairs Minister proudly said that democracy is the answer to the question of what India has given to the world in the last 75 years. Meanwhile, India’s stand regarding the Ukraine war was the central issue during this year’s Raisina Dialogue. Representatives of some countries tried to pressurise and corner India on this. But they were not successful. On Wednesday, the Foreign Minister reiterated that India’s position on the Ukraine issue is clear and viable.

The US lawmakers have started criticising the Biden administration’s stand responsible for the Ukraine war. Russia had already warned that Ukraine’s participation in NATO was its red line. However, the Biden administration was adamant about Ukraine’s participation in NATO, a move that US lawmakers have criticised. India had also defended Russia’s stand on the issue of Ukraine, saying it was necessary to take into account the sovereignty and security issues of all countries.
