Given the Taliban’s aggression, there is a strong possibility that the Taliban will soon take over entire Afghanistan. Although the Taliban has so far promised not to go against India, there are indications that the situation indicates that the promise cannot be believed. Afghan leaders have accused the Taliban of acting on orders from the Pakistani military and ISI. This poses a serious threat to the security interests of both India and the United States in Afghanistan.

Against this backdrop, an international conference was held in Dushanbe. The Indian Foreign Minister is said to have held in-depth discussions with US Special Envoy for Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad and US Deputy National Deputy Security Adviser Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall on the situation in Afghanistan. Although the details have not been disclosed, it has once again made it clear that India and the United States are monitoring the developments in Afghanistan very closely. Responsible analysts point out that although the United States may have withdrawn its troops from Afghanistan, that does not mean it has left the country. However, analysts are confident that the United States will not allow countries like China and Russia to expand their influence in Afghanistan.

Najam Sethi, a Pakistani journalist, said that if the Taliban attempted to wrest control of the Afghan capital, Kabul, and other important cities, the US would launch airstrikes on the Taliban at any moment. Sethi pointed out that the United States has deployed its aircraft carriers for this purpose. Zafar Hilali, a former Pakistani diplomat, has claimed that the US is ready to impose tough economic sanctions on Pakistan if the Taliban moves towards Kabul, accusing Pakistan of aiding the Taliban. Hilali said that, therefore, the US is just waiting for the opportunity, and once the opportunity presents, it will strike Pakistan along with the Taliban. The former Pakistani diplomat has claimed that India will also fully cooperate with the US on this front.
