India-China concur on Ukraine issue: Foreign Minister S Jaishankar

Washington: – India and China have concurred that the only way to stop the Russia-Ukraine war is through negotiations on the diplomatic level. The United States is targeting India for not adopting a stand against Russia for its attack on Ukraine. In this scenario, Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar pointed out that even China avoids taking a stand against Russia on this issue.

While speaking to the US media, Foreign Minister Jaishankar clarified that India and China also feel that the Russia-Ukraine issue can be resolved only through political dialogue. Jaishankar said ‘Last month itself, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi came on a visit to India. We had discussions over the Ukraine war during this visit. We concurred that the issue can be resolved only through political dialogue.’

Foreign Minister Jaishankar points out that India is not the only country to remain non-aligned on the Russia-Ukraine war. The Foreign Minister retorted that the United States is looking at the Indian and Chinese stand regarding Russia with different outlooks. Indian statesmen and strategic analysts have been pointing this out for some time now. Foreign Minister Jaishankar seems to have put his finger on the dual-faced US policies by raising this issue in the press conference. The Biden administration has maintained the policy to target India over Russian cooperation from the very beginning. This will not be in the interest of India-US relations. Indian relations with other countries are an independent issue. During the Two-Plus-Two talks, Foreign Minister Jaishankar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh pointed out that India would not tolerate US interference in this matter.
