India’s aggressive stance at the SCO’s foreign ministers meeting builds pressure on China and Pakistan

New Delhi – The meeting of the foreign ministers of countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) will be held in Goa from Thursday. The presence of Chinese and Pakistani foreign ministers in this meeting will remain the focus of attention. Especially after the Indian External Affairs Minister’s criticism of China and Pakistan during his visit to Latin American countries, many other countries, including India, are anticipating a reaction from China and Pakistan.

Moreover, it is claimed that the US and India have drawn closer to each other due to common threats from China. The US expects India to act against Chinese activities in the Indo-Pacific region. India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar while on his visit to Latin American countries, clarified India’s position and blamed China for the reason behind the prevailing tensions between India and China. On Pakistan, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said India is not interested in having a dialogue with Pakistan as they have not given up on terrorism. He said India has excellent relations with the US, European countries, Russia, and Japan, except for China and Pakistan. The statement of S Jaishankar just before the SCO meeting is noteworthy and is bound to make China restless. In the previous SCO meeting of the Defence minister, India took a tough stance against China.

Analysts in Pakistan have expressed concern about the Indian External Affairs Minister not leaving any chance to target Pakistan. In such a scenario, the analysts dread whether the new foreign minister of Pakistan, Bilawal Bhutto, would even stand a chance in front of Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. Hence, China and Pakistan will keenly observe the meeting starting on Thursday.
