US and Israel setup ‘Cyber Security Task Force’  

Jerusalem: – The United States and Israel announced the establishment of a ‘Cyber Security Task Force’ to stop the ransomware attacks. The United States claimed that the global economy would be able to counter the threat of cyberattacks. This announcement was made after meeting officials from the US treasury department and the Israeli finance ministry.

It is claimed that the frequency of cyberattacks in Israel has increased immensely over the last few months. Israel is accusing the Iranian hackers’ groups of being responsible for these cyber and ransomware attacks. On Monday, an Iranian hackers’ group claimed to have carried out a successful cyberattack on Israel. As per the Iranian hackers’ group, confidential information was stolen from leading Israeli companies. A leading Iranian news agency published the news regarding the cyberattack.   

It is claimed that these hackers have succeeded in stealing a substantial amount of information, including confidential documents, maps and three-dimensional drawings of the Israeli military. These hackers released a video late on Monday. The video claimed to have photos of Tel Aviv and other sensitive locations in Israel. Israel has not given any reaction to the claims made by the hackers. But the ransomware attacks are on Israel are increasing.   

It is claimed that the intensity of ransomware attacks is increasing even in the United States. Against this background, Wally Adeyemo, US Deputy Secretary of the treasury, visited Israel along with a delegation. At this time, Israeli Finance Minister Avigdor Lieberman met the US Deputy Secretary of Treasury and announced setting up a task force. A memorandum of Understanding for this purpose will be signed soon. After that, information related to cyber security will be exchanged between the two countries. The information regarding cyberattacks posing a threat on national and international levels will be shared. Adeyemo informed that the task force would work on the security of sensitive financial infrastructure and related technologies.  

Adeyemo added that the threats of ransomware attacks and the other hazards on the financial levels have started increasing during this recovery phase of the global economy. This poses a threat to the interests of the United States and Israel. In this scenario, the cooperation in the cyber security sector becomes vital for the financial and national security of both the countries.’ Adeyemo also announced that the United States would participate in the Cyber Global Tech meeting scheduled in Tel Aviv next year.
