Discontent rises over economic policies of Biden given the midterm electi

Washington: President Joe Biden recently claimed that more than ten million jobs were created in the United States during his tenure. However, Biden’s remarks are drawing resentment among American voters. US citizens have expressed concern that even though jobs are being created, their salaries are inadequate in the face of inflation. At the same time, there are clear indications of discontent among the Americans due to the fall in the stock markets and the shadow of a recession. Biden’s Democrat party will be hit in Tuesday’s election. Meanwhile, even as Biden claims that jobs have increased, leading companies in the US IT sector announced a major cut in the number of employees.

Since President Biden took office in 2021, inflation in the United States has increased dramatically. Currently, the rate of inflation in the United States is more than eight per cent, the highest in the last four decades. The US Federal Reserve even increased the interest rate in an attempt to curb the rising inflation. The Biden administration has also announced schemes worth billions of dollars, claiming that inflation will decrease. But even after that, the Biden administration has completely failed to curb inflation.

Realizing that this failure would be a big blow, Biden has started claiming that the number of jobs increased during his tenure. According to the data released by the US agencies last week, 261,000 jobs were added in October. Based on this, Biden claimed that more than ten million jobs were added during his tenure. Biden also said that no one has been able to achieve this feat before. But US citizens have not given much importance to this claim by the President.

Various surveys, trends and study group reports show that inflation, the cost of living crisis and the effects of a possible recession are the most important factors for the American people. Although jobs are being created, US citizens are expressing their displeasure that the income from these jobs is insufficient due to the rise in inflation. US analysts have pointed out that the issue of inflation is more serious and closer to the public, saying that it has become a daily problem for American citizens as they have to spend more money every day.

Biden’s decisions to curb inflation as well as provide relief to the American people are also turning out to be detrimental to the country’s economy. Congressmen from the Democratic Party are themselves criticizing Biden’s policies in this regard. Senator Joe Manchin alleged that Biden’s provisions for schemes such as Social Security, Medicare and Student Loan Relief were widening the deficit in the US economy to a great extent. The American Action Forum, a study group, claimed that Biden’s various decisions had put an additional burden of $309 billion on the US economy in the last two years. Meanwhile, there are indications that the claims made by Biden about job growth are also hollow.

In the last few days, leading US companies in the information technology sector have decided to cut down on the number of employees and stop new recruitments. It includes leading companies like Amazon, Facebook, Apple, Twitter, Microsoft, Oracle, Lyft, and Stripe. Therefore, it is clear that thousands of US citizens will be hit with unemployment in the next few days.
