President Biden awards free hand to illegal immigrants coming into US -

Washington: By claiming that the policy adopted by former US President Donald Trump has tarnished the image of the United States, President Joe Biden has issued ordinances to give a free hand to the illegal immigrants. As per the rule, the illegal immigrants from Central America are allowed to bring their children into the United States. Orders have also been issued to review the past decisions denying citizenship to the illegal immigrants, coming into the United States.

Former President Donald Trump had initiated the process of deporting illegal immigrants from the country. Many aggressive decisions were taken by the state, internal security and the legal department. In 2019, President Trump had referred to the immigrant influx through the southern border during his State of Union speech as a national calamity. Starting to build a Border Wall on the Mexico border and deploying additional security, he had made efforts to curb the immigrant influx through that border. Agreements were also signed with the concerned countries to prevent the immigrants from reaching the US border. This policy of Trump is known as the ‘Zero Tolerance Policy’. This policy had faced opposition even from within the Republican party. But various reports had shown that following the implementation of these aggressive Trump policies; there had been a marked reduction in the immigrant influx and crime rates. But now, new President Biden and the Democrat party, which enjoys a majority in the congress, has expedited the process to reverse the decisions taken by President Trump.

Biden and the Democrat party have always adopted a soft stand on the immigrant influx into the United States and have made laws and provisions to provide them more protection. After becoming the President, Biden also seems to be continuing with the same policies. Biden cancelled the Travel Ban and the Mexico Wall project, started by former President Trump, immediately on taking over as the President on 20th of January. After that, he has started preparations to overhaul the immigrant policies, issuing three successive ordinances. As per the ordinances issued on Tuesday night, the decision has been taken to send the children of the immigrants who have intruded through the Mexico border to their parents, in the United States. The decision had been taken to separate the immigrants’ children from their parents during the Trump tenure. Simultaneously, orders have also been issued to review the Remain in Mexico policy to stop immigrants from other Central American countries. Indications have also been given to reverse the Public Charge Policy’s harsh provisions, awarding punishment to illegal immigrants and not awarding them citizenship.

With these decisions of President Biden to open the US borders for the immigrants, the extensive influx of immigrants is expected into the United States.
