Won’t let Coronavirus pandemic affect the country’s economic growth: PM Modi

New Delhi: – Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, ‘The country’s economic growth rate needs to be accelerated in the new year. In doing so, the Coronavirus pandemic will not be allowed to affect the rate of the country’s development. The country will fight the Coronavirus pandemic with caution. At the same time, care will be taken to safeguard the country’s economic interests.’

Moreover, leading international financial institutions and economic watchdogs have claimed that the Indian economy is poised to take a leap leaving the Coronavirus crisis behind. Today, India has become one of the fastest-growing economies globally, and the entire world has taken cognisance of this. International investors also have made record investments during this period, showing confidence in the Indian economy. But concerns are being expressed that the new Coronavirus outbreak will harm India’s economic growth.   

Against this background, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured that the Coronavirus pandemic will not affect the country’s economic growth. Prime Minister was speaking on the occasion of disbursement of the tenth instalment of the Prime Minister’s Farmer scheme. 2021 will be remembered for how bravely India fought the Coronavirus crisis. During this period, the Indian government-administered 1.45 billion doses of the Corona vaccine to the population. The Prime Minister pointed out that India has improved various sectors and developed modern infrastructure facilities.   

Prime Minister expressed satisfaction saying that certain criteria show that the Indian economy was performing well even before the Coronavirus crisis. While quoting this, the Prime Minister said that the economic growth rate was more than 8%. At the same time, he pointed out that the flow of foreign investment in the country is at record levels and the forex reserves are at a new high. There is growing even in the GST revenues and the Prime Minister said that exports and especially agriculture linked exports have shown substantial growth.   

The prime minister drew attention to the fact that more than ₹70 trillion transactions have been carried out using the indigenously developed Unified Payment Interface (UPI). Moreover, 2021 became the year to strengthen the country’s cultural heritage. Development and beautification of the Kashi Vishwanath Dham and Kedarnath Dham, renovation of the Adi Shankaracharya Memorial, reinstallation of the mother Annapoorna idol that had been taken out of the country, the building of the Ram Temple and the honour of World heritage being awarded to Dholaveera and Durga Pooja further strengthen the country’s cultural heritage. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that this will increase tourism and help develop these places of pilgrimage. India is celebrating 75 years of independence in 2022. This should become the year of laying the foundation for the glorious future journey. The Prime Minister said that we should welcome it with a renewed zest.
