Another Chinese ship enters Indian Ocean for espionageAlthough India did not announce it, it had prepared to test-fire the K-4 submarine-launched ballistic missile. This missile is said to have a range of as much as 2200 kilometres. But this missile is claimed to be capable of hitting targets at much greater distances. China’s mouthpiece had earlier claimed that India’s missile programme was far behind China’s. However, for the past few months, India has started a spate of missile tests, which has left China unsettled. Therefore, strategic analysts say China has been viewing K-4 missiles with apprehension.

Hence, China sent the spy ship Yuan Wang 6 to the Indian Ocean region to get details of India’s missile tests. China feels it necessary to record the trajectory of India’s missile. Moreover, China has been worried because India can launch K-4 missiles from a submarine and target any city in China through this. Therefore, after India prepared to postpone the test, China again entered its Yuan Wang 5 ship into the Indian Ocean area.

Earlier in August, this Chinese spy ship had entered Sri Lanka’s Hambantota port. India had objected to it. However, considering India’s security concerns, Sri Lanka allowed the Chinese ship to enter its port with some restrictions. Although China frequently sends its spy ships into the Indian Ocean, the Indian Navy has been sharply watching it, the naval chief had assured. Besides, strategic analysts say that the Navy can easily catch information about what the Chinese spy ship has been seeing. Instead, analysts claim that by sending such spying ships, China has exposed its perceived vulnerability to the world.

India’s DRDO had tested the AD-1 long-range interceptor missile, i.e. missile and anti-aircraft missile. The successful test strengthened India’s air security and made India the fourth country in the world to have such an interceptor. Only the US, Russia and Israel have such technology. This does not include China. Against this backdrop, it revealed that China was extremely upset due to India’s success. According to analysts, China has taken India’s missile tests more seriously.
